About

Hi, I’m Steve Long. I am a storyteller. I feel most at home within the creative process, whether it’s organizing a shoot, collaborating with creators, or perfecting the final edit. I wanted to become a storyteller after reading an interview in Rolling Stone with Martin Scorsese. It’s so clear in my mind because it hit me personally, he was talking about the moviegoer of today. He said, a couple used to come out of a movie theater enthralled, talking about the plot and the questions it brought up. Nowadays, all they talk about is where to go eat afterwards.

I decided, from then on, to direct my creative energy once used to conjure up comic book characters, family-casted plays, tape recorder radio shows, surreal photographs, and improvised bedtime stories into one: a media career. I wanted to challenge that notion that the arts had become emotionally lifeless.

Currently, I produce all video for the podcast team at Gallery Media Group. I also Co-Created a podcast about musician fathers called Dad Rocks! that I produce, edit and co-Host time to time. Before that I collaborated with 2 equally curious friends on a twice-weekly web series we called Wakey Wakey that let us create explainers in subjects like art, science, technology, history and more. I also collaborated with a friend Matt Bogart on a podcast about pop-culture guilty pleasures called The Guilty Mixtape.

I live in Montclair, NJ with my wife Rashmi. I’m an avid collector of records and hot sauces. I thoroughly root for Cleveland sports teams. Plus, I enjoy a good Porter or Belgian style beer from Great Lakes, Dog Fish Head, and Stone Brewing Co. Or you can find me learning a new recipe, sketching or repeatedly hiking Eagle Rock in my spare time.
